The Evolution of Mahara Jiujitsu

ree

From the initial conception of Mahara Jiujitsu Academy in January to where the Academy is now, I can simply say I am blown away.

The first few months were disheartening with putting mats out and no one turning up. Now we have a regular full mat every class and students improving thier Jiujitsu weekly.

The philosophy of training I have adopted over the years is that if you understand how to train correctly, and can understand the concepts taught, all there is left to do is put it into practice. The old cliche of leave your ego at gym door is a pertinent one. If you can mentally give up the idea of winning, identify your weaknesses and to consciously work on them, then that is great lesson for life in general.

As a coach and Mahara JJ owner, I feel privileged to be in a position I can pass over the things I have been taught, and how I have adapted my Jiujitsu so others can benifit and learn from my experiences.

Ultimately I love the fact that people are adopting this Jiujitsu Journey ( yes I know this is very deep !) and hopefully will make it a life long passion.

Just be consistent in your training, know you are not going to learn and perform every technique perfectly, and just enjoy training.
